Meanwhile in Florida

I do love when my blog gets written for me. Especially when it includes photos of one of my favourite BML guys, Dudley.

Since you were soliciting photos for your blog, I have a few more to share:

As life in Tampa Bay heats up, retired dogs need to keep cool.  Thus, I have acquired a stand-alone freezer for the primary purpose of dog food storage.  I picked up a 30lb block of frozen turkey necks from the local meat market, partially thawed them out, cut up the big ones into meal sized portions, and re-bagged.  On really hot days, Dudley enjoys a "bone-cicle".
On Mother's Day weekend, I dug up Duds' vaccination records and we took a trip over to the local dog resort.  It's a very nice boarding facility with doggy daycare and a water park, just for dogs.  The water park is kind pf a private thing, unless you show up with a group of dogs who know each other.  Duds enjoyed splashing around the sprinklers that day, though he first had to thoroughly patrol the entire enclosure and poop a few times.  The boarding facilities are also pretty spiffy - there are runs with private televisions and couches.
Living in FL introduces a wide range of new critters to chase or avoid.  Previously I had mentioned Duds superior lizard hunting skills.  This week we met a new backyard pal that needs to be avoided all together.  I came home from work to find this monstrous bug on the fence.  Some research showed that it is an Eastern Lubber Grasshopper - the one in the photo is a juvenile and will sprout wings and get bigger.  Never seen anything like it before!  These guys are toxic if eaten and can spew a toxic foam if threatened.  I hope we don't see any more of these guys.
That's the update from Tampa Bay.  In June, we have tickets to Bark in the Park, where Duds will get to go to a baseball game and see the TB Rays play.  Stay tooned for photos of that event

Brindle Hunting

Another long distance update on the Brindle. He's keeping himself pretty busy while on his vacation.

Squirrel!

Man they move fast!
Where did that squirrel go...

He will return and I will be watching...
In the meantime, more love from the best cousin.

Nap Time

Napping, one of my favourite hobbies. I share that with Boxers and kids I think...

This is Blythe, 11 1/2 years young, and Neo, age 2. Neo always lets Blythe have the softest bed but makes sure he is close by to her.

And this is the granddaughter of Blythe and Neo's "mom" with her own Boxer Toby.

They grow so fast!

Some of my most popular blog updates are the one where I get to introduce new babies. After all, who can resist a Boxer puppy?

Last year I did just such a post introducing Reghiz. Well that little man we met way back when is all grown up!

Reghiz and Safari

Then last fall I also introduced Reghiz's honourary Boxer brother Aslan, who isn't a Boxer at all of course. What he is is seven months old and already 133 pounds of beauty.

Boxer Parenting

Yes, being a Boxer parent may have it's own techniques. As demonstrated by Coco and Momma.

Mommas are very patient with their kids. I would think Momma would make her get off, or move herself but no. They both love to go visit Jack and Jude because they are allowed on the furniture there, but not at home.

Sweetie Petey

My recent blog post titled Expressions resulted in a response from someone else who wanted to share.

This is Boxer mix and rescue girl Petey, contemplating.

What's the Brindle Up To?

Some will have already seen these photos on facebook but for the rest they'll be brand new. An update of what my Max is up to these days.
Nothing better than a game of tug
I think someone is taking my picture...
Ok that's enough, the pterodactyl needs a break.
Getting some love from his best cousin.

Puppy With Plans (part II)

As we found out in our last post the wee man Sieg has some big paws to fill. He's a lucky boy though, he's got an early start and a great mentor in Willie B. But there's only so much a pup can do in a day and the rest of the time? Well...

There's resting...

and napping...
and snoozing...

and sleeping.
And hanging out with Bogie Bear.

Puppy With Plans (part 1)

Back in March the BML received one of those kinds of emails that makes everyone smile. This one was from the land of Sarkel and announced the healthy arrival of a number of wee ones to make us all smile. What we didn't know is that one of those babies had some plans in store for him.

At the time he was known as Paddy. I've since been told his "official" name is Sarkel's Out of Step but he'll be known as Sieg. Sieg's job? Well he's going to be the understudy to Willie B and if all goes well he will one day step up to be Rachel's "eyes".

In the mean time he's just a busy little cutie-pie.
Grubby boy after his first "food".
Play time is important!

Whether you know what you're doing or not.
Determined little guy (bonus, Bogie Bear's bum)
And you have to spend time with ALL the family

Expressions

Today an update from my co-admin that includes her dogs and her grand-dogs.

I've been experimenting with my camera and decided to concentrate on Dog Faces.  And I think Boxer faces are SO expressive.  So here are a few results of my experimentation.

Dempsey and Josie spent a weekend with my guys and here's Demp curled up on the couch.  He's a pretty tired guy after rough-housing with the other White Tornadoes - and being disciplined a couple times by Head Dog Olly.
Dempsey and Josie managed to fit in the donut bed together!
Josie is hard to photograph ... she can hear me get my camera from miles away!
For some reason, Paris-Ivy believed it was her job to give Olly's face a spit bath.
Olly is a deep thinker, that's for sure. Now ... if I could just figure out what he's thinking ...
After a rough and tumble play session, Paris-Ivy takes a moment to rest in the cool grass.

Annie Girl

I think we love them more for their challenges. Annie has been battling seizures but seems to be stable for now.

Annie's mom "My girl has a hard time of it for the last couple of months, thankfully she seems to be leveling out with a meds/supplements/diet combination that seems to be working."
Annie loves her pillow and in this picture she had a big seizure and was resting finally, unfortunately another seizure occurred shortly after this picture was taken
Initially the Phenobarbital knocked her out and made her a little loopy
Finally able to enjoy some of our Northern California sunshine, with her long tongue leading the way!

Battle of the New Toy

I have fallen woefully behind in my blog posts. The following photos are some I have had for a quite a while and just hadn't been able to get to. I'm going to try and get back on schedule now if I can. In the meantime, here's a couple of blog favourites.

Olly and Paris-Ivy got a new toy.  As with any new toy, it's quite popular but the poor guy's arms have already been torn off. These photos explain.

Paris-Ivy starts the game by teasing ... SHE has the new toy!

Olly is taking the bait ... of course.
Here we go ... tug with the new toy! You'll notice Olly hasn't
moved off the couch; he's letting P-I do all the work!

And Paris-Ivy wins. At least she thinks she did.

A Brindle in Paris... Ontario!

Just a few photos to show the Brindle is settling in nicely at nana and papa's place. I'd say he looks pretty happy but it's going to be odd not having the big lug around for the next while.

The deck where breakfast was served.

A big tree for shade and a tennis ball, does it get any better?
Lots of sun for all his vitamin D requirements.

He heard a rumour they grow tomatoes over here...
Yes, he's looking happy.
