A Little of Asia (part 2)

For the next couple of posts I will share with you some photos that came from other members of my dive club. We have some great photographers, both underwater and on land and some of what they shared with the rest of us is truly beautiful.

All of these ones were from our amazing trip organizer, Angelo. He takes some really beautiful photos.

Tiny sea life, it's about the size of a fingernail.

What's' a dive trip without a sea turtle?

Reghiz Is Growing Up

Today we have another youngster to take a look at. The young fellow is named Reghiz and he belongs to Sandra Riendeau. Reghiz was a Christmas gift from Sandra's husband after she lost her 14 1/2 year old girl Chyna.

Chyna was a pretty lady
From Sandra:

"Reghiz is now 15 weeks old. Safari is a 2 1/2 year old South African Boerboel, we drove to Minnesota to ger her when she was 14 weeks old after we had to put our Mosley down due to Lymphoscarcoma.

Safari and Reghiz are tied at the hip.  Where you find one you will always find the other.  He will not eat unless his food bowl is next to Safari's. If you move it to a different spot he will just sit where it should be and stare at you as if to say "how dare you put my food somewhere else!" and will sit there until you move it back.

Safari is so patient and kind to Reghiz which says a lot for her temperament.  Reghiz can be quite the handful, he never leaves her alone at all.  He is in Puppy kindergarten right now and is quite the star.  After the first night I thought "I cannot bring him back he will get kicked out", but he has been very good ever since.  He just  wasn't used to seeing and being around so many puppies and just wanted play like all boxers do.  He is the clown of the class.

He was potty trained at 8 weeks old and knows sit, down, paw, crawl, leave it and settle down (this one took some work to teach him  but he does it now).  I call them the Yin and Yang of the house.  They are quite the pair and the never seem to stop playing."

A Little of Asia (part 1)

Was anyone wondering where I was? Well if you were here's part one. (warning, there are no Boxers here)

The end of January through the beginning of February I had the opportunity to go on an amazing trip to Thailand. I was engaging in serious underwater therapy with the SHAPE Sub Aqua Club and spent five days aboard the Junk June Hong Chian Lee cruising around the Similan Islands, Surin and Richelieu Rock.

How could I not share? So here's a little sampling of when we weren't underwater and hopefully when the club photo sharing is done I'll be able to show you some of the sea life.

The first day we went to see elephants and found these babies.

Unfortunately he was too big for my suitcase.

This wasn't our first view of the Junk, that was at night, but this one shows just how pretty she is.
This was just one of the amazing views in the Similan Islands.
The Junk's Boatswain dressed the pirate part on our last day at sea.

The most amazing dive group a person could ask for, enjoying a few margaritas.

Look closely at this one. Go figure the first flag I saw back in port was Canadian.

Just one of many shrines to be found on the streets of Phuket.

to be continued...

Sharing Some Joy

Sorry for the lapse in updates, a little bit of fun going on around here that we shall get into as we go along.

For today I bring you a special little bundle of Joy from April Grear.

"Foster girl Joy came to us on Jan. 18th, a bundle of energy and inquisitiveness.  She absolutely radiates 'joy'.  She is a typical 5-6 month old puppy that loves tennis balls and toys.  Joy empties out the toy basket at least once a day so the house is littered with her toys and balls.  She plays fetch and will also entertain herself for short periods of time batting a ball around or hiding it under the chair or a blanket and then 'dig' it out.  Joy and Bella play several times a day and get along well.

Animal Control said she is a boxer mix.  I do see some boxer in her but don't know what other breed(s) she is, anyone care to guess?

Joy will be up for adoption when she goes into the prison training program.  She will probably be ready for her furever home the middle of May.  For information on the prison training program see www.rpsm.org.  We had a visit from a lady interested in maybe adopting her last week and she took some amazing photos of Joy.  She was kind enough to share them and gave me permission to share with others.  This little gal will be hard to give up but there are others waiting to be saved."

How Best Friends Are Made

Today we have the treat of seeing Mary Liz Singleton's boys, best of dog friends. I'll let Mary Liz explain.

"I'm sending you some pics of my two boys in case you have a chance to feature them in a future blog.

Ace is the brindle boxer, and Willie is the Boston Terrier.  As you can see, they are best buddies.  We brought Ace home as a "temporary foster" from Austin Boxer Rescue 12/24/10.  Although he had a terrible case of kennel cough, we all fell in love with him, and I was completing paperwork to adopt him within 24 hours.  He was a loving companion to our beloved Moses until we lost him 9/9/11 at age 13.  Ace is estimated to be approximately 3 years old.

After losing Moses, and being displaced for 3 weeks by the Bastrop wildfires, Ace was lonesome and bewildered.  My husband and I decided to adopt a Boston Terrier for several reasons:  (1)  at our age (60s), we thought a BT would be more manageable than another boxer, Ace is our 5th boxer, and we will always have at least one :), (2) my son has two Bostons, and I love my grandpups!  So we adopted Willie (estimated to be approximately 3 years old) from Big Dog Rescue in October.  Poor Willie was rescued from a puppy mill, and after almost 4 months, he still will not let us pet him.  However, as you can see from the pictures, he adores Ace, and they are constant companions.  They are sleeping side by side in their crate (with the door open) as I type."

The two of them in Ace's crate together within hours of Willie joining our family.
The two of them in the bed together in their typical yin/yang position.
The two of them on Christmas Day, awaiting our guests.
The boys snoozing on the sofa.  I eventually had to put the pillow away because Willie kept grabbing it and running around the house with it!
