Mercy Report - Summer Vacation (part II)

Mercy to Mothership...

As we continued our tours we visited something called a carwash. Fascinating adventure.

We also visited numerous parks, they said so that Gunner and I could get some exercise, truly it was a great opportunity for me to add to my investigative experience.

I wanted to meet the ducks but they wouldn't listen when I said to let me go.

It was insisted that I try something called swimming so I humoured the family.

I quite enjoyed the opportunity to look down on Gunner for a change.

We visited another location where they insisted we pose with these odd creatures. I tried to interview them but they were non-responsive.

I also attempted to interview this gift they brought me, I call it mini-me, but to no avail.

All in all I would highly recommend summer vacation to all. Mercy out.

Mercy Report - Summer Vacation (part I)

Mercy to the Mothership...

After the sad loss of our Velvet this summer the family decided that Gunner and I should join them on something called a summer vacation. We all loaded up and headed off. The travel was fascinating but at the same time exhausting.

When we reached our destination I was able to experience something called a hotel. It seemed strange at first but they assured me that all was well so I made myself comfortable.

Everyone was missing Velvet greatly so I felt it only right to give myself over to being the dog they most needed, whether in play or cuddles.

More to follow, Mercy out.

Farewell To A Friend

The Boxer Mailing List has been around for a long time. I have been on it for almost 16 years and yet I could almost be considered a newbie. Many long lasting friendships have been forged thanks to our little internet list. My favourite photo of the Brindle and I is one taken by my co-admin when she visited us in Europe.

Recently we lost one of our members. Her passing was sudden and quite unexpected. Another member sent me the following about a quilt she made and sent to Jackie's family.

*****

Jackie was my best friend, we met on the BML. Although we never met in person we talked on the phone two or three times a day, mostly about our dogs. We became very good friends, like sisters.

She was always there to talk or cheer me up on good and bad days. She understood when most people would not. We discussed how her dogs had gotten sprayed by a skunk (several times) and how Lakota would stare up in the sky at airplanes when they flew over. We talked about Kera (the outside dog) and Shilo (her Boxer). I wanted to give Jackie something from my heart so I started making this quilt four months ago. I made each dog from the description she told me of them while on the phone. I had never seen them or pictures of them. She mentioned to me one time that she would have liked to have her mother's quilt. That's why I decided to make this for her.

I am sorry she was never able to see the quilt or know of my surprise for her. However maybe someway or somehow she will know and that every stitch came from my heart.

More Dozer

Here are some more photos sent in by Dozer's new "mom".

*****

Here are some pics of Dozer playing with his littermate - our friend's puppy, Boots.  They live nearby and had the forethought to tire Dozer out before his 4+ hour car ride!   Our daughter and our granddaughter came over to meet Dozer too.

I didn't realize till that day that his breeder-mom had wanted to keep Dozer, it just wasn't working out with Dozer's real mom.  It was too hard for Nicole to watch us leave with Dozer ....

Happy Gotcha Day

Gotcha Day, it's what I like to call Boxer adoption day. Today is Mz Petey's day and her "mom" sent some photos.

I would like to submit some photos of Mz Petey. We will be celebrating Petey’s adoption anniversary on Friday 10-3.

It was 9 years ago that we adopted her from Boxer Friends Rescue in South Florida. She was found as a stray in Miami and had definitely been mistreated and abused.

From time to time she has to check out the yard to make sure it is safe from cats, possums and raccoons.

For the last two years she has been training our latest rescue Jack. He loves to be as close as possible to her at all times.
She is a sweet humble soul and we could not imagine our lives without her.

New Family Member

It's alway the best news when a BML member brings home a new Boxer, especially one as handsome as this.

*****

Next weekend we will be driving out to Buffalo, NY to bring back 6-month old "DOZER."  Here are some pictures from his breeder-mom. The litter was born April 7th .... I guess Jackie Yurian was right - she said Dozer belonged with us!
