Springtime in Paris

I'm going to toss out another personal update today, because my birthday was last weekend.

I decided to go on a day trip to Paris. This amuses me because I've spent lots of birthdays in Paris, it just wasn't Paris France.

A good friend went along with me to be my tour guide and interpreter and that was the best part of the day. Because it wasn't so much about the touristy stuff as punctuating tourism stops with wine or beer stops.

So here's a little of our day.

The requisite Eiffel Tower shot.

Jim Morrison's grave in the Cimetière du Père-Lachaise.

A glorious sign of spring.

The shopping corridor where we found Malabrigo yarn.

Arènes de Lutèce, a Roman amphitheatre.

Birthday dessert, cheese, red wine & vieux calvados.

Taking a photo of Cinderella's carriage and horse.

For anyone that might be concerned, the Brindle had a lovely weekend with Uncle Jerry and Uncle Mark.

Jade

Today's post is all about Joanne Lukashal's Jade, in Joanne's words.

I am impressed with the number of BMLers who are able to get costumes on their dogs.  For St Patricks day, I tried to get Jade to wear a St Paddys hat - as you can see  she wasn't too happy about that, but after quite a few times we managed to get a picture.

Jade has a new friend - his name is Clifford!  Although he is ok to sleep with, he doesn't do well running around the yard.

Jade also has another friend that she has been teaching to play like a boxer.  This is Bella, a bulldog pug mix, who is about half of Jades size, but can sure keep up with her.  Jade likes playing with her, and especially pinning her down.  The one thing that Bella isn't too good at is using her paws like Jade.

Max Welcomes Spring

I took these photos of my own guy last weekend as he was enjoying some welcome warm weather.

It's kind of bright out today.
Time to give the moose a workout.
Have to shake off all the winter dust.

That should about do it.

...and Dottie

This is still Bucky's story, the following is what Debbie sent me with the photos.

We have always just had one boxer dog at a time, but had been looking for a smaller dog to be a companion for Bucky.  Dottie is a terrier mix, about 20 pounds, who was a stray taken in by a Fresno rescue group.  My niece fostered her for about a month and when I met her I felt sure she was the one for us.  She came to live with us on February 18, and she and Bucky immediately became best buddies.

I think they called this one right.

Dottie with Debbie on adoption day.

New buddies!

Just layin' in the sun.

What Bucky said.

This last one is kind of special. It's a piece that was created by Lori Smith based on a photo of these two snuggling in Bucky's bed. I of course immediately noticed Bucky's Sharks bandana.

Bucky...

Today is another of my favourite Boxers from a distance. His name is Bucky and he lives in San Jose, CA with BML member Debbie Cauble.

Bucky is almost 8 years old, Debbie and her husband adopted him 4 years ago this July. He was an owner surrender and fortunately his mama Sara was adopted by someone near them, so they are able to get together.

A couple of years ago a gift arrived here and while I'm sure it was from Debbie to me, Max decided that Bucky must have sent it for him. You can see what it was in my old post The Brindle as a Sports Fan?

Here's the first installment of our friend Bucky.

Such a serious face... he's not always like that.

Ready for Hallowe'en, oh the things we do to our dogs.
Sometimes I just lay down and think about how good life is. ~ Bucky

Pixel's "brudder"

A couple of years ago the following appeared on Pixel's wall on Facebook.

Me and Tomo had WAFFLES for breakfast today! All Santa brought Tomo was a piece of paper? It had a bunch of words like "contract" and "responsibility"...and then my dad got all sniffley when he read it.

This was Pixel's (and Jeni's) way of announcing that Tomo was what we affectionately call a "failed foster". In fact I don't think Jeni and Dirk have had a successful foster, which is where the Boxer actually goes on to a new forever home.

Here's Tomo.

Tomo, on his own for a change.
Jeni says one of these days Tomo is going to chew Pixel's head off for being such a brat.

The Infamous Pixel

Today I'm going to introduce you to one of my favourite "public figures" on Facebook. His name is Pixel and he belongs to my BML friend Jeni Mellott. Pixel is a busy guy and has a wardrobe for every occasion as you will see.

Clowning around

The ladybug, probably in honour of his mom's cars.

Mom's a knitter but I don't think she'll get any wool from this lamb.

Ready to help Santa... or be Santa.
And with only his collar because this is serious, a Flyball competition.

Olly and Paris-Ivy

I received some new photos from Maryann today. Instead of a play date this is the usual sight at her place.

In Maryann's words "Olly may be four years older than Paris-Ivy, but he still mixes it up with her ... this time, they are going after one of their favorite toys."

Wow, what's that?  Let's see who can get it!

It looks like Olly has the upper hand - at least for now.

He's starting to feel sorry for the little snert.

A little bit of resistance ...

Yes ... Ivy wins again!

Riley and Austen

Today we have another share, this time from Deanna Corbett. Here's what she had to say about her photos.

When you have time, I thought it would be fun to share a couple pics of my furkids.

Riley is the brindle, Austen is the fawn. They hang out in my office a lot during the day and will nap together on a pretty regular basis, but only once in a while do I have my camera ready to snap a picture when they get into a silly position, like Riley laying her head on top of his in the first pic.

She is by far the dominant of the two, so whatever she wants to do, Austen always lets her "rule the roost".

The other picture was taken of Austen while he was snuggled into the crook of my husband's legs - one of his favorite spots to start his day.

Thanks for letting me share my "kids".

Playdate Antics

Recently my co-admin on the BML, Maryann, posted to the list about a play-date that she had arranged between her own Paris-Ivy and a colleague's Boxer, Benito Santiago. Maryann was able to catch some of the action and sent me the following photos.

From the moment he arrived, Benny and Ivy started running.

Ivy shows off her ballet talents!

Benny wants to do the Lindy Hop - no doubt about it!

And then he tries a ballet move of his own.

THIS is why they were two very tired puppies after the visit.

Checking In On the Brindle

I guess it's about time for a real update, a check in on the Brindle.

Needless to say he's a busy fellow with a tight social calendar. There's the urchins out front to keep an eye on, regular trips to camp, his domain to patrol. But even he gets a little down time.

A while back he spent the weekend with his Uncle Jerry and Uncle Mark. He had planned to make the acquaintance of a feline lady by the name of Kiwi but she has decided that it would be beneath her to do more than hiss and puff her tail when he's around.

Uncle Jerry took a few photos of the visit to share.

Just taking a look around the place.
I know what you're thinking but I'm not table surfing.

Uncle Mark and Uncle Jerry say this monkey was Jackie's but I can use it.
Still not table surfing, honest!

Uncle Mark lets me on the couch, but not in his lap. Just like mom, hmph!
