Brindle Rope Work

I recently spent part of a week at a cottage on Lake Erie. Need I tell you that one doesn't go away without coming back with gifties for the Brindle?

I decided it was time he had a new rope, apparently it was a good choice.

For me???

I was going to play with the dragon but this seems pretty good...
Quite good really.

Yes, I'll keep it thanks!

Travelling Champion

One of the conformation beasties on the BML headed home to her breeder to add to her titles. Florida to Ontario is quite the trek no matter how many legs you have.

We're pleased to report that Ms. Jasmin was successful and added Canadian Champion to her long list of titles:

Intern' CH & Int & NAT JA CH Dajen Jasmin Elegant Dream at Lustig BN RN TN-N HP-N NAC NJC CL1-R CL1-F CL1-H S.T.A.R. CGC

No, I can't help you decipher all of that but I got this from her owner "She is our first Canadian Champion but she also has 7 agility titles and 2 Obedience titles. Jasmin is a very well balanced dog with multiple titles on both ends of her name. Beauty and Brains in one package, as it should be with a Boxer."

Huge congratulations to all who are involved and love this beautiful girl. Here's a few photos of her, doing her thing.

Granny Lady

One of my favourite BML ladies is Doggie the Boxer X. Doggie of the unique herding style and mentor to the rest of her pack. Today an update on our dear Doggie.

Doggie has been overseeing Eric's confidence building on walks. Now she shares her hole with him.

This hole was the one place we could never stop Doggie from digging in, so we gave up and that became her spot.

Now it looks like she has someone to pass it on to.

The Big Orange Ball

Although our friend Bogie Bear is no longer with us he's left one of his prized possessions in the capable paws of, not so wee any more, Sieg Adam. The Big Orange Ball is actually two balls, one inside the other, and poor Sieg really wants to get the inside one but that's just not going to happen.

When all else fails... take it to bed!

Sieg Adam, Boarding School

Little working man Sieg Adam was away for much of July doing lots of training work to prepare him for his busy future. Today we have a few photos of what he was doing, when he wasn't working.

Innovation

I'm still working on catching up from last month's festival of busy. In the midst of that I received an email and photos from one of the BML's favourite agility competitors who had a competition mishap. She wanted to share her husband's invention for her. Read on!

*****************************************************

My broken ankle was casted Tuesday and I just have to share these amazing pictures of my nifty knee scooter my wonderful husband built for me.  I am in a non weight bearing cast to just below my knee and handing a clumsy 66 year old woman  crutches and saying "Here you go" is sheer lunacy.

I started Googling orthopedic things for a non weight bearing foot and found lots of really expensive things that I needed YESTERDAY.  I shared my Google finds with Charlie and asked if perhaps he might be able to get a rolling mechanics seat and convert it into what I need.  He was a toolmaker on Mare Island so if he could help build SUBMARINES he could surely make something for his temporarily one legged wife.

Harbor Freight had exactly what we needed and it was even on sale! He then proceeded to modify it to fit my needs, bolting on a wooden box to raise it up to the proper height for my knee, and even carefully gluing and taping on a piece of foam to make it nice and comfortable.  I  told him I am really clumsy and would feel more secure if he could put some kind of tiller on the front and my golly, he re-purposed a croquet mallet that hadn't seen the light of day in probably 25 years.

I still can't wait to get this cast off, but my one of a kind orthopedic scooter sure makes life tolerable.

To make this dog related they all barked at it and Rollo even tried to bite it until I told them this was my helper and I needed it.  Now they are fine with it.

Here is a nice close up of my contraption, and another of my spiffy green cast with my poor purple toes peeking out.

The cast putt'er on 'er allowed me to select the color for my Fiberglas cast .  I chose green because as any performance dog competitor knows green is the color of your qualifying ribbon.

Party Girl

In the midst of the busy of the last month one of the BML's girly girls celebrated her birthday. Of course pink was the order of the day for the celebration.

Rubin & Tango, Rubin wasn't impressed with the hat.
Brew & Tango, Brew doesn't mind hats...
He just wears them differently.

Tango in her tutu.
Clearly a good birthday.

Changes

So after some thought I finally settled on a new name for the blog. I'm still iffy because of course some Boxers do have tails, not just nubbins. However the word nubbin is just wonderful isn't it?

To get back into the swing of things the Brindle says hello to all and that he's happy to be hanging with his mom again. (these photos have previously appeared on facebook)
Looking handsome at the new front door.
Brindle in the grass.
Not interested in this little piggy, even a tiny bit.
Being the Brindle is an exhausting job.

Mom's home! Mom's home!
