Just a quick little update to show everyone that our favourite dog handler is growing into quite the young lady. Jordyn doesn't just show her Honey's Boxers any more, she's in high demand to show for all kinds of people.
And we can say we knew her when...
Photos of Boxers and honourary Boxers to share with members of the Boxer Mailing List and fans of the Boxer dog breed.

Half a Year
Back in the summer we got a look at Kirby as he was getting big. Well he's six months old and we have another update.
**********************
At 6 months he is “wide open” and full of mischief!!! He is progressing well after just 2 weeks of working on his separation anxiety with the assistance of the trainer. We are having daily “missions” and he is a good student. He is the most hyper boxer I have had (and I though Murphy was bad)!! But with time and patience I hope he will become a happy and well balanced boy!

Mz Petey's Gotcha Weekend
It's been a while and what better way to fire the blog back up then a big celebration? Mz Petey and her family wanted to share.
**********
Mz Petey came into our lives on October 3, 2005 when we adopted her from Boxer Friends in south Florida. She was under a year when we adopted her but she came with quite a bit of emotional/physical issues. She’s come a long way in 10 years and has certainly made a big impact on our lives.
#2 – She has learned to deliver subliminal messages such as “feed me” through her big brown eyes.
#3 – She is very attentive to rustling sounds coming from the kitchen.
#4 – She patrols the yard daily keeping us safe from the likes of opossum, armadillos and cats.
#5 – For the last 3 years she’s had a constant shadow who worships and adores her to the point of irritation at times.
#6 – Mz Petey has an inoperable malignant mast cell tumor growing on her side. We’ve opted to let her enjoy her remaining days doing what she enjoys most. We do not know how many days she has left but, for every one she does, she will be loved and cherished.

Looking For Foster Angels
Cookie sent us an update to post. She's so happy she wants everyone to be Foster Angels so lots of Boxers can be saved. If you are in South West Florida and might be interested in fostering check out the Boxer Rescue Angels of Florida website.
*****
Cookie here! This week was more fun adventures for me. I now get in the car on my own. I had a playdate with another girl boxer. She was young and so much fun to play with. I would LOVE to be in a home with another dog. Any dog will do as long as they are laid back. My foster fur brother doesn’t like to play much but he lets me lay right next to him and I like to paw his face and give him kisses in the morning to wake him up because I love him.
My favorite thing to do is go on walks. Sometimes when we first go out I will lay down on the grass and you may think I don’t want to go anywhere but then I start rolling around because I am just so excited. I am great on the leash. I don’t pull. I like meeting new humans on my walks but I like meeting dogs even more. I am just so friendly and everyone says how cute I am.
Sadly, since I received this update Cookie's fur foster brother has passed away. While he wasn't a BRAF dog he was the foster brother to our first rescue and deserves to be recognized for the great job he did teaching Cookie that the world was a good place to be. Run free Tamaki, you will be missed.

Kirby Growing
A while back I posted an introduction of a cute young man by the name of Kirby. Kirby is growing, as puppies do, and we have a report from his mama.
*****
He is now 13 weeks old and the typical “goof ball” boxer puppy. Full of energy and lots of fun!! Keeping me busy. Crate training going ok. Still a work in progress!!!!

C is for Cookie
Cookie the Boxer that is. Cookie is Boxer One for the rescue I blogged about the other day, Boxer Rescue Angels of Florida.
Cookie, an 18 month old Brindle girlie, was found as a stray in Miami and when a volunteer went to pick her up it was noticed that ticks were falling off of her. At her first vet appointment they counted more than 150 ticks! Sadly Cookie was diagnosed with Anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease, as well as testing heartworm-positive.
On a happier note Cookie is doing very well in her foster home. She loves her foster brother, and apparently cookies. She's being treated for the Anaplamosis and will be re-evaluated at the end of July to see if she's ready to start heartworm treatment. This treatment is very expensive and as BRAF is a new rescue they would appreciate any donations to Cookie's You Caring fundraiser to help offset that cost.
I told one of my friends who is a volunteer with BRAF that if they were hoping for a face for their new rescue they couldn't have asked for a prettier one than Cookie. I hope you enjoy her photos.

Go Girl and The Angels
I've been helping out a new rescue group lately, Boxer Rescue Angels of Florida. In fact if you would like to help them out too please click here to drop by their Facebook page so you can like and share it. They had their first event recently where they set up their info booth at an event put on by Go Girl Cycling.
A friend of mine who is an avid cyclist and Boxer mama sent me some photos. Added bonus, if you recall Hannibal's story, she's his mama and these first couple of photos are typical Hanni.

The rest of these photos were taken by my friend with her helmet camera and I just love the perspective. It was so kind of her to share them with me, and all of you.

Agility Variation
Here's a cute twist on the agility tunnel.
*****
Here are some pictures I took of one of the dogs I puppy-sit for. I am teaching him some agility with Rubin's help. He has Rubin completely confused on how to do the tunnel. He will run on the top of the tunnel, while Rubin runs through it. I have never had a dog do this, he makes me laugh.

Introducing - Gabriella
Today's post is in response to my recent "Announcement".
*****
In keeping with the foster failure theme...meet Gabriella "Gabi". She was named after a very special boxer boy that came into rescue that we named Gabriel. Sadly, Gabriel didn't make it but we honor him with Gabriella.
I wasn't going to adopt again after losing Zach last May. Gabi came into rescue and couldn't be spayed because of kc and then went into heat while having kc. She came home with me as a foster until we could spay her and the rest is history. :-)
The picture of her and Zeuby in the window is what I come home to.

Picking the Collective Brain
One of our BML friends is looking for some advice for her Miz Petey.
*****
For a little background, back around November she had a bad bout with hives. We got that fixed and then she came down with the mast cell tumor. The operation to remove that was in January and a week later she had a stroke.
Since then what looks like bumps have shown up on her head and shoulders. They have not really spread past what you see in the pictures. You can run your hand over them and they aren’t raised. It looks dark underneath the spots but, if you part the fur, her skin is the normal pink not dark. They do not appear to bother her as she doesn't scratch them.
For the cancer we are keeping her on 2 benadryl 2 times a day along with 1 tagamet and 1 fish oil capsule 2 times a day. For the stroke the vet is having me give her 1 baby aspirin every other day. Did not know if some combination of this medicine could be causing this issue.
Even our vet is stymied on this one so was curious if anyone else might have experienced it before. I was wondering if the stroke did something to her system to have caused this.As you can see from the last photo this is really not disrupting her life or stressing her in anyway.

Honourary Boxers
Having been a part of the Boxer Mailing List for so many years you get to know each other. Whether you have met someone in person or not, in my opinion it doesn't make them less of a friend.
As time has passed we have lost people off the list who no longer have Boxers. That makes me sad because the majority of the time they have made the decision for reasons that have nothing to do with lack of love for our breed. I always wish they had "talked" to me about it first.
One of our members did give me that opportunity recently, her household had decided to "downsize" their canine companions. I told her that doesn't make them any less of Boxer fans so why leave the BML? Besides, if she left I would never have had the chance to see these cutie patooties.

That Brindle Guy
It's been a while so I thought it was time for some photos of The Brindle himself. Supporting role of his girlfriend played by Florida Boxer Rescue foster dog, Ti Sweetie.
Always the handsome, if perhaps a little tubby, boy.
Showing his new lady friend around and even sharing his hedgehog with her.
Ti Sweetie is a delicate lady of unknown age. She's a a lovely girl and a master cuddlebug.

Blanket of Memories
A little while back during the Boxer Rescue Foundation's auction one of the offerings was a custom Boxer blanket. Today I'm privileged to share the final result of that blanket.
Its owner calls it: 24 years, 7 boxers, 1 blanket

Mercy Report - Winter
We're having trouble getting through again. Continual adjustment of antennae is required.
The family has increased the pack numbers back to three with the addition of The Stella. She and Gunner have had a detrimental effect on the items known as toys.
Having seen what they did to the fox I made a concerted effort to disguise myself.
I also did my best to protect my favourite pig but The Stella destroyed it as well.
I have found some time to enjoy myself in what they call snow, when the sun shines of course.
Uh oh... I sense someone coming... Mercy out!
