The "Why Yes, Boxers Can Herd" post last week led to some conversation on the subject. Deb Franks sent the following:
"Doggie has been our main sheep dog since we have had sheep.
As for rounding up the sheep...well I do not need a dog for that. I just call them and they come running.
She excels at helping catch & hold when we shear and trim the feet. I have yet to meet a dog as good as her at that part of sheep work.
I have high hopes for CBGB taking over this job, hopefully in the next month Doggie will be training him.
Katie is OK, getting better each year but she is jut not as forceful as needed with the sheep."
The interesting thing about Deb's email is that Katie's the Sheepdog X in the bunch, Doggie is a Boxer X and CBGB a Rhodesian Ridgeback X.
Not long after sending that email to the BML, Deb sent me the following:
"As you can see - she displays speed! Agility! Cunning! She is the hardest working sheep dog/boxer on the planet."
Folks, here you have it, Doggie demonstrating her particular style of herding.
Awesome...I Love it!!!
