Cookie the Boxer that is. Cookie is Boxer One for the rescue I blogged about the other day,
Boxer Rescue Angels of Florida.
Cookie, an 18 month old Brindle girlie, was found as a stray in Miami and when a volunteer went to pick her up it was noticed that ticks were falling off of her. At her first vet appointment they counted more than 150 ticks! Sadly Cookie was diagnosed with Anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease, as well as testing heartworm-positive.
On a happier note Cookie is doing very well in her foster home. She loves her foster brother, and apparently cookies. She's being treated for the Anaplamosis and will be re-evaluated at the end of July to see if she's ready to start heartworm treatment. This treatment is very expensive and as BRAF is a new rescue they would appreciate any donations to
Cookie's You Caring fundraiser to help offset that cost.
I told one of my friends who is a volunteer with BRAF that if they were hoping for a face for their new rescue they couldn't have asked for a prettier one than Cookie. I hope you enjoy her photos.
