It's been a rough place around here lately. I hurt my back a couple of weeks ago, right around the time the Brindle stopped jumping. When the not jumping went on for a while we went to visit our vet, Dr Murielle. After giving him a good checkup, and mentioning that he was getting quite old for a Boxer (don't tell him!) she diagnosed a bum left back leg. She assured us that it was bone related, not ligament (phew!), probably arthritis, and sent us away with a bottle of medicine and a prescription for house arrest. Yeah... right...
On the upside I also discovered what was the likely cause of my back problems. Something about lifting the now 90lb Brindle while he couldn't jump.
Yesterday was our recheck appointment and the Brindle was ready. I was clearing some stuff out of the car and returned to discovered somedog was up to jumping again.
After a somewhat spirited drive out to the office, sort of chasing a certain German I work with, we were in the waiting room. The Brindle doesn't like the waiting room, too much noise and too many smells, but he humours me with good behaviour sometimes.
Dr Murielle was most pleased with his leg and said he can start exercise again in a day or two. The caveat of the extra couple of days is because of something else we had for her to look at today. Not for the squeamish!
Yes, see that toenail? Yuck! She managed to lift it and discovered it was hanging on by a thread of skin. She got me to hold the Brindle's head away from her and very quickly pulled it off. Double yuck! So now to go with his other meds he's getting antibiotics for a few days.
I have a theory on the toe thing. He wanted to outdo my feat of last Sunday, also not for the squeamish.
Yes, I tried to break my toe and failed. The tip and bottom are also purple. The Brindle and I do make a fine pair.
Well, okay! In honor of your purple toe, I used purple polish on my toes yesterday! ☺
ReplyDeleteYou're a good friend. :-P
DeleteI'm hoping for a quick and happy ending for your toe and the Brindle's!

Glad the Brindle is feeling up to jumping again. Your toe looks sore, and toe ooees are the worst. Lucky its sandal weather. Thanks for the pics.

WHAT is it with the LEFT side? I fractured one of the bones on the top of my left foot 2 weeks ago .... LoL OK, so they say bad things happen in 3's, does this mean we're safe for a while? Hope your toe & the Brindle's leg are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteWell, you and the Brindle make a good pair, Carrie. Thankfully, both of you will heal nicely. I am glad you didn't break your toe. That would have been worse.
