Working the Hedgehog

As I often do when I've been away, I brought the Brindle a new toy when I came back at New Years. This time the selection was in part because he has tried so hard to make friends with the hedgehogs in our back yard. This is who came home with me:
He doesn't have normal play sessions with his new friend, only private ones behind the couch. I call it working the hedgehog and was only able to sneak one photo:
Aside from working the hedgehog I can pretty much tell he likes his new friend as it never strays very far from him.

  1. Jager had a hedgehog that he loved ... several months after he died, Olly was digging a hole in the backyard and found Jager's hedgehog! Olly carried that thing around until it finally just gave out. GREAT pics of the Brindle and HIS hedgehog ... they brought back some wonderful memories. :)

  2. Love the hedgehog....has always been a favorite toy for our boxers and for me, as I like the honk honk sound as a nice change to squeeeeeeeeeeeeek! Max seems quite pleased with your gift.

    1. It's definitely different but I'm looking forward to the arrival of the toy with the silent squeaker.

  3. We've had a few popular hedgehogs here.
Bubbles had an orange and white panda, which she carried by it's tail (just an orange pompom) She never chewed it, but eventually, it had some nibbles from fosters. I had to remember to hide it with some fosters. Now it's tucked in a drawer, perhaps one day I'll have another boxer who will value it as she did.

Looks like Max has a great new friend! Hedgehogs are popular in our house too :-) Not sure if they are guarding them when they sleep with their toys, or if they just like knowing they are nearby... Too cute!
