Warmer Climate

Today we have an update from one of our BML members who recently made a somewhat drastic move. She sent me a note, and photos, to share with her update on how it's going. For those that don't know or have forgotten Duds is an Old English Sheepdog/Boxer cross, I think he's quite handsome.

"Dear Listers,

Duds & I are getting comfortable in our new digs in Saint Petersburg, FL.  We had a very long drive down 95, including 2 hours of parking lot outside Fredricksburg, VA.  We stopped & stayed at South of the Border in Dillon, SC.  Their pet-friendly rooms are very large and very comfortable for dogs. Duds had his very own hotel bed that he didn't have to share with people.  It was a little spendy, though.  We were so tired that we had to stop.  Both my companion and I got a little sick from the diner food there, so be warned.  Pretty much everything was closed up at 9pm when we arrived on Saturday night.  It was an uneventful trip, fortunately.

Duds is enjoying his yard, and he caught a lizard the first day we were here.  He pawed it until it stopped.  He has a new funny thing now - instead of asking to go out, he is now asking to go for Walkies.  We had a nice long walk today and saw some new (to him) wildlife.  White birds with long legs & long bills (but not egrets) and a snapper turtle in the creek nearby.  There are otters in the creek as well, but we haven't seen them yet.

I stepped in poo in the yard every day (sometimes twice!) 'till I got a new scooper.  Haven't needed one in 6 years.

Mr. Smarty-pants figured out how to open the back gate on the first day, so it gets bungee'd shut now.  Also, he is never left out unattended.  The neighbor dogs (PB-mixes) on the other side of the fence bark mercilessly at him.  Both me and my neighbors are careful to not have the dogs out at the same time, for quiet sake.

I've attached a photo of Duds enjoying the yard and the sunshine.  I'm certain that he appreciates the sunbathing.  Hope all of you had a lovely holiday weekend and a super New Years!"
