Today I am inspired to share some special dogs with you. Not
Boxer Mailing List dogs but
Boxer Rescue Canada dogs. Velvet, Gunner and Mercy live in High River, Alberta which was devastated by flooding this summer. As their town and family recover they are a source of solace, comfort and often humour to help in their own way. Here's a bit about them.
***********************************************
The white boxer with brown ear is Gunner, he will be 2
in October. The other white boxer is Velvet. Both came to us from
Boxer Rescue Canada.
Gunner was a puppy and came right from the
breeder, who we are still in contact with, but it was facilitated by
BRC. He is sweet and goofy and funny, so full of love. He has an
amazing connection with my oldest son. He really seems to get Aaron's
aspergers and can pick up on his moods quite well.
Velvet came to us
when she was 3ish. She's now 7ish. She is a sweet sweet girl, unless
you are another dog. She's always been very motherly to our boys (Aaron
and Adam both have aspergers). Velvet is my best friend. She comforts
me and looks after my boys, when they play outside, I let Velvet out to
watch over them and she does an amazing job. She was a breeding dog
until they were done with her and she has maintained that motherly
instinct. She is my constant companion. I never have to look far and
there she is.
Mercy, the little white boston terrier/french bulldog is
such a sweetie. Having just gone through this flood and we just lost
our pug right before that, my sons absorb everyone's emotions. They
are feeling our entire town's emotions right now and they don't
understand how to disperse all or any of that sometimes. We were
missing our DeJa (pug) and needed to help the boys too, we needed some
Mercy. And she's helped us all

I know how much boxer babies can help you get through a disaster. I never would have made it through our flood without my Buddy, Rocky and Max1. They helped me keep my sanity and Rocky is a Katrina Rescue so he was as scared as I was but stuck by me all the way.
ReplyDeleteHow cute this trio is. Thanks for sharing the pictures and the story.

Thank you. I think it must be the food we give them because we sure don't bath them that often.
