Rubin, the Working Dog

A few days ago BML member Janet Giarratano posted about her Boxer Rubin and his "job". This is what she said that day:

"Rubin has a job, it is to wear a backpack and collect bottles on our walks.  We donate all the money to the Humane Society here in Wayne County. We have cleaned up the neighborhood and haven't gotten as many bottles lately. Today on our way home he was sad. As we entered then driveway he saw a pile of bottles. He got so excited and ran to them and wanted me to put them in the backpack. I do not know who put them there but he is happy again. I think we have good neighbors.

Be careful what you do people are watching.

Rubin got a letter from the Humane Society  saying that they were happy he was helping save the animals. I did read it to him, he was wagging his tail the whole time. I hung it on the wall and it  will  go in his scrap book."

I immediately emailed Janet and said she had to send me photos of Rubin working and kind soul that she is she followed through. I'm so pleased and I think Rubin is pretty awesome. But when are Tango's photos coming Janet? ;-)

Rubin, in his pack, ready to go.

A working dog has to keep his eyes peeled.

Rubin, happily showing off his treasure.

Congratulations to Janet on making Rubin feel important and helping other animals at the same time.

  1. Thanks to Janet for sending us pictures of Rubin working. It is awesome that he will do that kind of job. When I read Janets story I was thinking that pictures would be great - so Carrie must have read my mind.

    Thanks Janet and Carrie
